PMO Lead - Business Transformation The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited

Liana Roopnarine has over 15 years of career experience in the oil and gas industry within major oil companies in Europe and South America, spanning engineering, supply chain management, optimization, business development, strategy, operations, asset management, carbon capture and storage and most recently in NGC, T&T where she functions as PMO Lead for the company’s business transformation project.

She is a registered engineer by profession, an enthusiastic coffee lover, a fun, creative, compassionate human being who is extremely passionate about climate change mitigation and low carbon emerging technologies. She is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) advocate having broken barriers in the male-dominated energy industry and truly enjoys coaching and mentoring young professionals and women in leadership. She was a featured speaker at the 2022 O&G/Energy Conference in Amsterdam and a published author having written a chapter for the book titled “Empowering Women in STEM, Personal Stories and Career Journeys from Around the World.” She recently started her research journey into carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen, as she views this area of great importance for the future of the world.

Roopnarine was the chairperson of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) for the local section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in Trinidad and Tobago for 2 years and has now been appointed program chair for 2023/2024.

She holds a BS in mechanical engineering and a MS in engineering asset management both from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.
