I recently spent 16 days rafting down the Grand Canyon on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the incredible and varying geology along the way. This picture really blew my mind. The bottom half of my hand is sitting on the 1.7 billion-years-old Vishnu Schist Formation, and the top half is sitting on the 550-million-years-old Tapeats Sandstone Formation. My hand is literally spanning over 1 billion years of time representing the largest unconformity I have ever seen and no doubt ever will see. What an amazing place the Grand Canyon is.
