Working on an oil rig in the middle of the desert doesn’t usually provide food for the soul but a recent encounter with a wild dingo and one of her pups did just that. Dingoes are wild dogs native to the Australian continent and are considered dangerous to humans. The chance to see the wild dogs roaming around the rig camp was a highlight of the hitch in an otherwise harsh and brutal landscape. Their ethereal beauty is captured in this photo, with the rig in the background for a complete juxtaposition of a producing oilfield and free-roaming native wildlife. As one of Australia’s important producing oil fields it’s comforting to see the minimal impact the crucial operations have on the local dingo population.
