The Student Link column raises awareness about actions that are being taken by young professionals and SPE student chapters around the world to extend the reach of the benefits of SPE membership to students. One of the main objectives of Student Link is to increase the number and quality of initiatives from young professionals toward students and vice versa. To achieve this objective, exemplary programs around the globe will be showcased. Highlighting these programs from both the industry and university perspectives will transfer ideas for effective interaction and mutual benefit. Interviews with students, professors, young professionals, and industry leaders will discuss motivating factors, stakeholder opinions about the current state of affairs, and ideas to improve and expand current programs. In this issue, the status of activities in Europe is highlighted. Professor van Kruijsdijk of Delft U. of Technology, The Netherlands, gives his views on the future role of young professionals and students in the E&P industry.
