Video: 70th Edition of BP Statistical Review, With Data From the Year of COVID

Spencer Dale, bp chief economist, presents the findings of the report.

bp Statistical Review of World Energy 2021

The year 2020 was one of the most tumultuous years for global energy in modern history. What actually happened? How surprising was it? What did we learn about the functioning of the energy ‎system and what messages does it contain for the energy transition and the path to net zero?‎

To address the questions above, the Center for Global Energy Policy hosted Spencer Dale, bp chief economist, in July to present the findings of bp Statistical Review of World Energy 2021.  The report provides an overview of what happened to energy markets in the previous year and a guide to future trends. The 2021 report marks the 70th edition of the review since the first publication of the report in 1961.
