Young Professionals (YPs) Committee of the Warri Nigeria Section recently held its annual YP workshop at the PTI Conference Centre Effurun in Warri, Nigeria. The theme of this year’s workshop was “Marketability for Sustainability: Equipping Myself Ahead of Tomorrow’s Challenges.”
The workshop consisted of the following sessions:
- Guide to writing technical reports for engineers (Archibong, E.E., of PTI)
- Effective technical paper presentation (Sheidi, H.M., of PTI)
- Packaging a marketable résumé (Muse-Ariyoh, N.O., of WRPC)
- Interviews made easy and landing on the dream job (Bruce, O.G., of WRPC)
The distinguished group of session facilitators took turns sharing their insight and gathering discussion on the subject matters. The main lesson learned from the workshop was not only the importance of planning your career early, but also the significance of taking the time and thought in choosing the right mentors.
In conclusion, Bruce, O.G., moderated a brief syndicate session. The committee hopes to hold a similar workshop this year.
