What’s the Next Big Thing?

2017 SPE President Janeen Judah started her career as an engineer in the analog world of the 1970s and 1980s and is leading the industry’s biggest individual-member organization in the age of big data. As a child visitor of the 1964 New York World’s Fair, she recollects seeing Bell System’s picture phone, when the smartphones of today were beyond imagination. Similarly, she says that the revolutionizing inventions of 2046 may be beyond our imagination now. But are there telltale signs for what’s going to be next big thing for the oil and gas industry?
