A student team from Institut Teknologi Bandung won first place in the Plan of Development Competition at the 2025 Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade, held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in May.
Participants were tasked with formulating a detailed oil and gas field development plan. This included evaluating reservoirs, designing drilling operations, planning production facilities, conducting economic assessments, and addressing health, safety, environmental, and local content considerations. Centered on the theme “From Concept to Reality: Designing Integrated Field Development Plans That Foster National Energy Resilience and Sustainable Growth,” the event highlighted the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration and the adoption of low-carbon technologies.
The NAWASENA team—comprised six students from ITB’s Petroleum Engineering Department: Rakha Mahardika Bustami, SPE; Aisya Giast Salsabila; Firzha Firdaus; Mariatus Sururiyah, SPE: Hidayatullah Farizqi: and M. Fathan Sepwiandy. They presented a comprehensive oil and gas field development plan emphasizing sustainability and national energy resilience.
The NAWASENA team designed a CO2 injection and utilization scenario that not only addressed technical aspects but also strengthened the project’s economic viability and sustainability. Their proposal integrated carbon capture and storage, tax incentives, and carbon credits in line with the Paris Agreement.
