The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved programming for Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) including the university’s first-time offering of a BEng in petroleum and gas engineering from the school of engineering and engineering technology. OAUSTECH, located in Nigeria’s Ondo State, is a technology-based institution, which aims to provide the needed training for industrial and technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.

According to a press release from the university, NUC approved the launch of these courses after completing a resource verification evaluation conducted by the regulatory body in July to confirm the institution's preparedness to introduce the proposed programs.

Abubakar M. Gerei, NUC’s acting director of academic planning, announced the program’s approval in early September with the “programs to be run in the main campus of the university with effect from 2024/2025 academic session.”
