The SPE Gulf Coast Section Data Analytics Group and Fervo Energy invite you to participate in the Machine Learning Challenge 2025 on 21 March. The challenge is an exciting opportunity to apply advanced machine learning (ML) techniques to real-world energy sector problems.
This year's challenge focuses on optimizing geothermal drilling by predicting bottomhole circulating temperature (BHCT), a key factor in improving efficiency, safety, and decision-making during drilling operations.
Participants will build and refine ML models using authentic drilling log data in a two-phase competition: (1) creating a general model for BHCT predictions across multiple wells, and (2) customizing it for new datasets. This simulates real-world adaptability and precision challenges.
The event provides a platform to showcase expertise, collaborate, and gain recognition in the data science and energy industries while contributing to innovations in geothermal energy. Open to data scientists, ML enthusiasts, and energy professionals—sign up now to make an impact in renewable energy.
