SPE Gulf Coast Section’s Career Advancement Network successfully expanded its reach into the geosciences community at IMAGE 2026, connecting 217 job seekers with employers and demonstrating growing demand for in-person energy industry hiring events.

The Career Advancement Network held its Energy Professionals Hiring Event at SPE’s 2026 Offshore Technology Conference, allowing participants to connect with employers, explore opportunities, and seek information about job opportunities in a rapidly evolving industry.

Earlier this year, 19 teams competed in a machine-learning contest held by the Data Analytics Study Group of SPE’s Gulf Coast Section. The was the first competition of its kind for SPE. Here, the organizers of the contest present some of the techniques used and lessons learned from the Machine Learning Challenge 2021.

A recent symposium focused on acquisitions and divestitures held by SPE’s Gulf Coast Section offered a face-to-face look at the state of oil and gas investing.

A hands-on workshop set for 14 February in Houston will be led by industry leaders in health, safety, and environment to provide participants the opportunity to learn how to inspire, motivate, and lead for safety and operational excellence.
