Students representing 32 SPE student chapters from across the globe have been selected to participate in the annual SPE student quiz competition, PetroBowl. Qualifier rounds among chapters were held in the Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Russia, South America and Caribbean, Middle East, and North America SPE regions, and the following teams are invited participate in the 2018 PetroBowl Championship to be held at the 2018 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition to be held in 24–26 September in Dallas, Texas.

The PetroBowl competition pitches SPE student chapter teams against each other in a series of quick-fire rounds, answering technical and nontechnical industry-related questions. The contest has grown in size and popularity since its debut in 2002, and in 2015 was taken global with the introduction of six regional qualifier contests.
