Switch Energy Alliance is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2024 Switch Competition—a global competition that challenges university students from all around the world to tackle the pressing issue of energy poverty. This competition is more than just a contest; it’s an opportunity for students to innovate, collaborate, and make a real impact, while competing for $25,000 in prize money.
Since its inception in 2020, Switch Competition has seen over 3,200 students from 55 countries rise to the challenge, guided by more than 730 volunteers from various energy-related professions who serve as mentors and judges. This year promises to be even more exciting as Switch Energy Alliance expands its global reach.
Who Can Participate?
The competition is open to both graduate and undergraduate students, regardless of discipline, year of study, university, country, or continent. This diversity ensures a wide range of perspectives and innovative ideas.
Key Dates for the 2024 Competition
• 1 Sept - Switch Competition registration opens
• 27 Sept - Registration for Switch Competition ends
• 30 Sept - Competition begins, teams receive case packets
• 3 Oct - “Mentor the Mentors” and “Mentor the Team Leaders” workshops
• 5 Oct - Kickoff with Scott Tinker and competition Q&A
• 6 Oct - Teams must submit scenario of choice
• 7 Oct - Mentor assignments for teams that submitted countries
• 24 Oct - “Mentor the Judges” workshop
• 27 Oct - End of preliminary round (deadline to submit)
• 1 Nov - Energy Career Path Session #1, semifinalists announced
• 5 Nov - Energy Career Path Session #2, finalists announced
• 9 Nov - Finals Round, live
