Mark your calendars for the third and final SPE Live with the 2025 TWA Energy Influencers. TWA Energy Influencers are young professionals in the oil and gas industry (under the age of 35) who have displayed excellence and integrity, or demonstrated innovation, social responsibility, sustainability, and passion for safety.
Next-generation wells must perform reliably today while remaining adaptable for future uses such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage or geothermal energy. This panel brings together specialists in drilling technology, field operations, multiphase flow, and production enhancement to discuss how to design, build, and maintain wells for long-term productivity.
The discussion will address drilling automation, lessons from geothermal, durable production practices, surveillance for early issue detection, and opportunities to retrofit or repurpose wells as part of broader low-carbon strategies.
Panelists include Mohamed Shafik Khaled (assistant professor at Colorado School of Mines), Mohamed Elshawaf (senior drilling engineer at Khalda Petroleum Company/Apache JV), Amin Alinejad (petroleum engineering postdoctoral fellow at University of Alberta), and Erika Johana Tovar Trujillo (country manager (PPS) at Halliburton).
The episode will be moderated by TWA Editorial Board member, Piergiuseppe Fiore (reservoir engineer at Eni).
The first SPE Live episode with the 2025 TWA Energy Influencers aired 14 January, and the second episode aired 18 February.
