Argentina’s Universidad de Buenos Aires rose to victory to become the 2025 PetroBowl champions at this year’s competition. This marks the team’s first win in the competition’s 23-year history.
The competition took place on 20 October at the 2025 SPE Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition (ATCE) in Houston. The PetroBowl contest is SPE's largest student competition with SPE chapters from around the world participating in a quick-fire quiz covering a wide range of topics relevant to the oil and gas industry.
Thirty-two teams who won their respective regional qualifiers were invited to participate in the competition. Due to travel and financial issues, several teams were unable to compete in this year's event.
The 2024 PetroBowl champions, Universidade Federal Do Rio De Janeiro, came in second place in this year’s competition, followed by France’s IFP School.
