Meeting the energy demands of today while advancing a lower-carbon energy future requires policy support, innovative approaches, capital investments, and time.

Registration is open for the SPE Europe Energy GeoHackathon, which will be held in October and November. It will be preceded by 4-week online bootcamp sessions on data science and geothermal energy, which will begin on 2 October.

Ten SPE sections have been awarded the 2023 SPE Presidential Award for Outstanding Section, the highest honor a section can receive.

The winners of this year’s Drillbotics competition are teams from the University of Stavanger and Clausthal University of Technology. Thirteen teams registered last fall, coming from seven countries spanning four continents.

The conference represents a new direction for SPE’s EuropEC as it adapts to the energy transition. The call for papers is open.

The Data Science and Engineering Analytics Technical Section has been selected to receive the 2023 Presidential Award for Outstanding Technical Section.

The trip’s core mission was to strengthen ties with key stakeholders in the Chinese upstream and energy sector while identifying potential avenues for SPE to extend support and add value to the industry's technical pursuits.

Geothermal energy’s advantages make it popular across multiple sectors, from residential to industrial applications. Primary applications, namely electricity, direct use, and ground source heat pumps, offer diverse energy sources. Details of these and some unconventional applications are discussed.

These awards recognize those members who have contributed exceptional service and leadership to the Society, as well as those who have made major professional contributions to their technical disciplines at the regional level.
