  • SPE’s Gulf Coast Section (GCS) was one of five winners of SPE’s 2013 Section Award for Outstanding Young Professional Activity. The Section has won this award 3 years in a row. A large part of this success can be attributed to GCS YP board members actively working to address the concerns of its membership base throughout the year.

  • The Lagos, Nigeria, Section YP Program has demonstrated significant growth since its inception in 2009, now with more than 500 members working throughout the oil and gas industry and academia. YP activities have undergone a series of positive transformations. To improve networking and collaboration between YPs in the section, four subcommittees were formed.
  • Led by Richard Steele, BG Group, and Alejandro Primera, Eni UK, YPs of the SPE London Section undertook a 2-day excursion in May to Derbyshire’s carboniferous outcrop and Mam Tor’s mudstones. The aspiring petroleum engineers pieced together the deltaic depositional system’s depositional history by studying rock composition, texture, and local fossil features.
