APDT 2024: Advancing Drilling and Well Technologies for a Resilient Future

The highly anticipated SPE/IADC Asia Pacific Drilling Technology Conference was held in Bangkok and gathered over 1,000 professionals from the drilling and well technology communities across more than 30 countries.

The highly anticipated SPE/IADC Asia Pacific Drilling Technology Conference (APDT) 2024 officially began in Bangkok, gathering over 1,000 professionals from the drilling and well technology communities across more than 30 countries.

Hosted by PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), APDT 2024 is taking place 7–8 August at the Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld. APDT is being held as a carbon-neutral event for the second time running. This will be achieved through carbon credits to offset the greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions associated with the conference.

In his keynote address at the Opening Session, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Thailand, Dr. Prasert Sinsukprasert emphasized the need to ensure the continuity, accessibility, and affordability of energy amid energy transition and the importance of technological advancements, including on carbon-emissions reduction, in addressing the challenges facing the industry and moving toward a resilient and sustainable future.

Montri Rawanchaikul, Chief Executive Officer of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, said that PTTEP is pleased to host ADPT in Bangkok once again for industry leaders, experts, and professionals to discuss and share perspectives. While advanced drilling and well technologies have great potential to contribute to industry growth, strengthening collaborative networks helps accelerate the development and deployment of innovation and shape the industry.

Themed “Advancing Drilling and Well Technologies for a Resilient Future,” a notable highlight of the conference is the Executive Plenary session featuring senior industry executives: Henricus Herwin, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Investment, PT Pertamina (Persero); Chatit Huayhongtong, President, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production; Hazli Sham Kassim, Vice President, Development, Upstream, PETRONAS; Harvey Snowling, Chief Operating Officer, Borr Drilling; Martin White, Region Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, Halliburton; and Uday Singh, Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). These leaders shared insights and perspectives on the future of drilling technologies, emphasizing resilience and innovation in the industry.
