Matthias Gatzen spent years in research before joining Baker Hughes Drilling Services in Germany in 2010 as a research and development engineer for innovative downhole technologies. Today he is accountable for the company’s global downhole digital business, which is built on a suite of applications that includes drilling automation services, next-generation well engineering applications, and advanced analytics offerings. His focus is leveraging automation and digitalization to drive efficiency, predictability, and safety in the field. Gatzen holds a PhD in engineering from the Leibniz Universität, Hannover, Germany.
