Soujatya Mukherjee

Senior Reservoir Engineer Wintershall DEA

Soujatya Mukherjee, SPE, is a project manager and senior reservoir engineer with Wintershall Dea. He has more than 15 years of experience working on various EOR and enhanced gas recovery projects in both conventional and unconventional oil and gas assets. During his tenure, Mukherjee has worked in the areas of enhanced/improved oil recovery, gas condensates, production optimization, emulsions and phase behavior, petrophysics and fluid properties, reservoir diagnostics, numerical simulations, well interventions, and monitoring. He was a technical liaison and lead for joint-industry projects on chemical EOR for heavy oils, microbial EOR, and low-salinity waterflooding. In his current role as a project manager in the Digitalization and Technology team, Mukherjee is responsible for deployment of technologies for risk mitigation of condensate blockage and enhancing the gas and condensate production from gas assets. He has authored more than 25 publications in various peer-reviewed journals and conferences and has authored a chapter in the book Recovery Improvement—Oil and Gas Chemistry Management Series, Vol. III. Mukherjee has served as a member of several SPE committees, including the 2022 OPES Technical Program Committee and the 2021 steering committee for the SPE Workshop on EOR for More Sustainable Future. He is a member of the JPT Editorial Review Board and has been a mentor with the SPE eMentoring Program since 2015. Mukherjee holds an MS degree in petroleum engineering from Clausthal University of Technology and a petroleum engineering certificate from Heriot-Watt University.
