
Veena Kumar
Texas A&M UniversityVeena T.A Kumar, SPE, is a PhD student in petroleum engineering at Texas A&M University, where she also earned her MS degree, building on a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from National Institute of Technology Trichy in India. Her research lies at the intersection of energy and artificial intelligence, addressing real-world subsurface challenges such as CO₂ sequestration, production forecasting, and hydraulic fracture optimization. Kumar has collaborated on research initiatives with Aramco Americas and the US Department of Energy’s SMART program and has presented her work at national and international SPE conferences. In addition to her academic pursuits, she interned at Baker Hughes and Halliburton, following earlier field exposure at Oil India Limited and Indian Oil Corporation in India. Beyond engineering, Kumar is a certified lifeguard and a trained Bharatanatyam classical dancer. Her passion fuels her career, driving her curiosity and creativity to solving complex problems.
