C. Susan Howes

C. Susan Howes was named vice president of engineering at Subsurface Consultants and Associates (SCA). She will be responsible for maintaining technical quality standards for the company’s recruitment, consultancy, and training services. She will also participate in the direction, administration, and coordination of SCA’s operations, manage technical projects, and serve as the company’s primary liaison to the engineering community.

Howes spent 25 years in a variety positions at Anadarko, working in senior staff engineer, engineering training and recruiting manager, employment manager, and learning and organizational development manager. In 2007, she joined Chevron as manager of its Horizons program, later serving as a reservoir management framework consultant and reservoir management organizational capacity consultant. 

Howes has coauthored several papers and articles on uncertainty management, risk management, and talent management for SPE conferences and publications. She is the chair of the SPE Soft Skills committee and previously served as director of the SPE Gulf Coast Section. She is a recipient of the SPE DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal and is an SPE Distinguished Member. 

Howes holds a BS in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas.
