The new IADC Guidelines for Baseline Cybersecurity for Drilling Assets was released in January. The guidelines were developed by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Advanced Rig Technology Committee Cybersecurity Subcommittee, led by Siv Hilde Houmb, chief technology officer for Secure-NOK.

The guidelines provide baseline guidance on cybersecurity for oil and gas drilling assets. The guidelines draw from the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework and international standards and can be used as a starting point for developing more robust cybersecurity protection.

“The guidelines represent best practice for cybersecurity for drilling assets and were developed collaboratively by drilling contractors, operators, vendors, and cybersecurity experts” Houmb said.
