The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Joint Industry Programme (JIP)33 published its eighth and ninth Phase 3 specifications S-712 General Purpose Gear Units and S-713 Special Purpose Gear Units.
General-purpose specification defines a minimum common set of requirements for procuring general-purpose gear units in accordance with API Standard 677 (Third Edition, November 2016) General-Purpose Gear Units for Petroleum, Chemical and Gas Industry Services.
Special-purpose specification defines a minimum common set of requirements for procuring special-purpose gear units in accordance with ANSI/API Standard 613 (Fifth Edition, August 2007) Special Purpose Gear Units for Petroleum, Chemical and Gas Industry Services.
Both specifications follow a common document structure comprising four documents shown below, which together with the purchase order define the overall technical specification for procurement.
The specifications are to be applied in conjunction with the supporting data sheet, quality-requirements specification, and information-requirements specification.
