Mark Albers, SPE, senior vice president at ExxonMobil, was awarded the Society of Women Engineers’ (SWE) Rodney D. Chipp Memorial Award. The award celebrates the work of a man or company who has made a significant contribution to the acceptance and advancement of women in engineering. The award was presented at the WE17, SWE’s conference and career fair held 22–28 October in Austin, Texas. Throughout his career, Albers has held a variety of managerial positions in development, operations, production, and engineering. In 2001, Albers became vice president, Africa, Chad/Nigeria, at ExxonMobil Development Company in Houston, and served as executive assistant to the chairman of Exxon Mobil Corp. in Irving, Texas, before becoming president of ExxonMobil Development Company in October 2004. He was named senior vice president of Exxon Mobil Corp. in 2007. Albers is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and the board of trustees of the US Council for International Business. He serves on the executive committee of the board of visitors of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas A&M University Engineering Advisory Council, SPE Industry Advisory Council, board of directors of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, and the Association of Former Students, Texas A&M University.
