OneSubsea has agreed to a contract with Nexans for the design and supply of two 75-mi power umbilicals for a subsea multiphase compression system at Shell’s Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian North Sea.
OneSubsea and Subsea 7 are supplying and installing two 16-MW subsea compression stations tied to the existing manifolds and pipelines at a 2,789-ft water depth. The equipment will be powered and controlled from the Nyhamna processing plant on the Norwegian west coast, approximately 74 mi from the subsea location.
Nexans will provide power umbilicals to integrate the electrical power, hydraulic, and fiber optic elements needed to power and control the compressor station. The umbilicals will be manufactured in Halden, Norway, with a scheduled installation date of 2023.
