Cyberhawk, a provider of drone services and end-to-end visual inspection data management, signed a contract with Chevron North Sea Limited (CNSL) for UAV-based inspection services following the completion of a successful proof of concept inspection on one of CNSL’s assets.

Repsol has awarded Allseas an EPRD contract for the removal, transfer, load-in to shore, and disposal of its Gyda platform in the Norwegian North Sea. The contract covers the 18,000-ton topsides and 11,200-ton jacket, along with an option for reinstallation on another field.

William D. (Bill) McCain, Jr., a 50-year veteran of the oil and gas industry and academia, and 2019 SPE Reservoir Description and Dynamics Award winner, died 20 September. He was 86.

Allseas Group has been awarded a gas export pipeline contract for the Barossa project offshore the Northern Territory, Australia, another major deal as the project reaches its expected sanction early next year. Allseas’ contract covers the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the 260-km gas export pipeline.

Aker BP and Archer have agreed on a 15-month extension to an existing platform drilling and maintenance services contract for the Valhall and Ula platforms in the Norwegian North Sea. Effective 1 October, the extension will push the contract through the end of 2020.

Laredo Petroleum named Jason Pigott to succeed Randy A. Foutch, SPE, as the company’s CEO. Pigott will continue in his role as president. Foutch will remain chairman of Laredo’s board until next year.

Keiran Wulff was named successor to retiring Oil Search Managing Director Peter Botten, effective in February. He is currently Oil Search's executive vice president of Alaska and president of Oil Search Alaska. Marvin Gearhart, a pioneer in measurements-while-drilling (MWD) and loggingwhile-drilling (LWD) technologies for the oil and gas industry, and a JPT Legends of Drilling honoree, died 20 July. He was 92.
