SPE has established three new technical sections—the Management Technical Section, the Methane Emissions Management Technical Section, and the Data Science & Engineering Analytics Technical Section.

SPE has established three new Technical Sections—the Management Technical Section, the Methane Emissions Management Technical Section (MEMTS), andData Science & Engineering Analytics Technical Section (DSEATS).

The Management Technical Section provides a forum for technical professionals and academia in management. This technical section focuses on management with applications in the upstream petroleum industry, including

  • Asset and portfolio management.
  • Risk management and decision-making.
  • Strategic planning and management.
  • Energy economics.
  • Professionalism, training, and education.

The Methane Emissions Management Technical Section collects, disseminates, and exchanges technical knowledge concerning the measurement, reporting, and cost-effective abatement of methane emissions from oil and gas operations and related technologies for the public benefit.

The Data Science & Engineering Analytics Technical Section is being established to cover all aspects of the DSEA discipline, aimed to be simplified and streamlined with industry’s current and long-term strategies.

This new technical section will enable members to access data science-related content from a single robust technical section, facilitated by enhanced collaboration with all other SPE disciplines including liaising with other industries bringing in relevant learnings/sharing.
