Giant gas project off Australia had been idle since last December.

Woodside and BHP make final investment decision on $12 billion offshore development and additional LNG train in Australia. The approval on Monday came at the same time the operators signed an agreement to merge BHP’s petroleum unit into Woodside, originally announced in August.

The contractor was tapped by Chevron Australia and Aker Solutions to provide power from shore to the Jansz-Io field offshore Australia.

New well on the field is slated to begin drilling in late 2021.

New regulations have recently commenced with the effect that all onshore oil and gas exploration and production proposals involving hydraulic fracturing in Western Australia now will need to be referred to the Environmental Protection Authority for assessment.

The race is on to fill NWS gas export plant.

The 15-year agreement will send gas from the Pluto LNG facility to a mineral sands project in Western Australia. The joint venture will own and operate a road tanker fleet to transport the LNG.
