Kistos Energy, a partner in the Benriach well West of Shetland, revealed that the well encountered gas-bearing sands in the target Royal Sovereign formation, but the discovered resource was expected to be subcommercial. The well has been drilled ahead of schedule, and the final cost is expected to be within previous guidance.
Semisubmersible Transocean Barents spud the well on 21 March. A total measured depth of about 4,400 m was reached, and a data acquisition program has been conducted.
Kistos Energy Ltd. holds a 25% working interest in license P.2411, partnered with TotalEnergies (operator, 50%) and Rockrose Energy (25%).
