Software company Aize has announced an expansion of its strategic collaboration with Aker BP that involves a software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreement for all relevant facilities. The continuation of the existing development partnership involves implementing Aize for Aker BP’s topsides.

Aize and Aker BP have focused their combined development efforts on two axes: develop a digital twin that aims to support the current needs of today’s brownfield projects while supporting the development of the product to suit asset operational needs in the Yggdrasil are of the North Sea, the biggest ongoing development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

“This is a significant milestone for our collaboration with Aker BP,” said Jarle Skrebergene, Aize’s CEO. “Working closely with their experts has given us access to competence and experience that has been invaluable in developing our product. Expanding our agreement confirms how Aize is proving market fit nationally and internationally and underlines Aker BP’s steadfast commitment to evolving their digital agenda.”

With Yggdrasil using Aize for platform visualization and collaboration, the Skarv floating production, storage, and offloading vessel has also begun its operational journey with Aize. This marks the first Aker BP brownfield facility to potentially benefit from Aize’s solutions. The collaboration between the engineering, procurement, and construction phase and the operations phase, as demonstrated by Aker Solutions, Aker BP, and Aize in Yggdrasil, showcases the potential for new ways of working in both brownfield and greenfield projects.

Aize’s software allows for seamless navigation and access to relevant information in project execution and asset operations. The software allows Aker BP to visualize, monitor, and collaborate on its asset models in 2D and 3D.

As part of the SaaS agreement, the two parties will continue to work closely to facilitate optimal implementation and adoption by targeted users.

“Adopting the SaaS model is the natural next step in strengthening the strategic partnership between Aker BP, Aize, and Cognite,” said Thomas Hoff-Hansen, Aker BP’s chief information officer. “Today, we begin using a solution codeveloped as a true partnership to generate value for our business. We will continue our fast-moving digitalization journey and change how we work in the phases of projects and operations in our industry.”
