Fernando C. Hernandez, SPE, began his career as a mechanic in 2002 with Plug Power, specializing in cryogenic transportation of hydrogen, CO₂, and liquefied natural gas. He has since been featured in Forbes. He is global chairman of the Society for Low Carbon Technologies and a business ambassador to Scotland, appointed by its longest-serving first minister for energy contributions. Hernandez helped shape South America’s first carbon capture and storage (CCS) legal framework, approved by Brazil’s president, and previously served as International Chairman of CCS Brasil. He is a multiaward-winning technologist with the UK’s Net Zero Technology Centre, backed by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, BP, and Equinor; he advances low-carbon technologies and is an XPRIZE-recognized innovator in direct air capture under the Elon Musk Foundation’s Carbon Removal program. His global expertise has led to engagements with presidents, ministers, and speaking engagements across four continents.
