James Vanjo-Carnell

Global Produced Water Product Line Manager NOV

James Vanjo-Carnell is a seasoned engineering professional with 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in produced-water treatment and separation technologies. He currently serves as the global produced water product line manager at NOV, where he leads the strategic development, maintenance, and deployment of advanced technologies across onshore and offshore, and greenfield and brownfield applications.

Throughout more than a decade at NOV, Vanjo-Carnell has driven developer-level innovations in retrofit solutions, hydrocyclones, degassers, flotation systems, deep-bed filtration, and polishing technologies. His expertise also encompasses system-level optimization, field data interpretation, and the development of asset performance strategies—ensuring robust, efficient, and fit-for-purpose water-treatment solutions.

Before joining NOV, he held pivotal engineering roles at BP’s upstream engineering center, contributing to the enhancement of operational deployment of separation and produced-water treatment facilities. At Opus Maxim Ltd., he was instrumental in the design and troubleshooting of multiphase separation systems, leveraging both physical testing and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling. His career began at Chambers Process Engineering, where he supported polymer facility upgrades through hands-on design and operational engineering.
