Patricia E. Carreras
Patricia E. Carreras is the general director of the energy consulting company Blue Moon Strategies. She has more than 25 years of international experience leading and advising majors and independent energy companies on field development planning leveraging reservoir simulation. Additionally, she is a public speaker, mentor, and coach on sustainable development, leadership, D&I, and cross-cultural effectiveness. Carreras has worked for Chevron, Quantum Reservoir Impact (QRI), and Oxy, among other companies, based in the US, Mexico, and Argentina.
She is an active member of SPE, holding volunteer roles such as 2022–2023 chair of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Standing Committee, 2019–2022 member of the Business and Leadership (B&L) Standing Committee, and 2020–2023 chair of the SPE Gulf Coast Section (GCS) Continuing Education Committee, which received the SPE GCS Outstanding Committee award under her tenure. Carreras is one of the authors of the first-ever D&I survey launched by the B&L Committee in 2020, and the author of the D&I survey launched by the D&I Committee in 2023. She is a 2023–2024 SPE Distinguished Lecturer. She visited France, Israel, and Nigeria in 2023, presenting her speech “Are you Culturally Savvy?—How to Excel in a Multicultural Industry.” She volunteers as a mentor for different organizations.
Carreras holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Buenos Aires and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University, both in petroleum engineering. She successfully completed the business sustainability management training from the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership in 2022.
