SPE Offshore Europe 2027 (OE27) has announced its conference theme, “(Em)Powering Europe: Securing Our Energy Future,” ahead of Europe’s leading integrated offshore energy industry event returning to P&J Live, Aberdeen, from 7–9 September 2027.

A 3-day program of plenary sessions, panel discussions, and fireside chats will explore the theme through three topic pillars: delivering responsibly, driving prosperity, and strengthening capability and innovation.

The call for paper proposals for the technical program opened 18 August 2026, with the submission deadline set as 1 February 2027.

The program committee seeks proposals showcasing innovative solutions, lessons learned, case studies, and emerging technologies aligned with the core themes to select from and build over 30 technical and e-poster sessions. Work demonstrating operational excellence, unlocking value from existing assets, advances in decarbonization, accelerating digital transformation, or developing the workforce of the future is invited.

Features on the OE27 exhibition floor will include an Energy Theater, an Offshore Wind Hub, North Sea Futures Zone incorporating CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage), decommissioning, digital and hydrogen, and a Future Talent Hub.

David Latin, chair of Serica Energy and conference co-chair of OE27, said, “The theme of OE27 reflects what the people in this sector have always done best, tackling the most complex challenges through innovative solutions. New North Sea oil and gas production, alongside renewables, is part of the same mission to secure Europe's energy future. OE27 helps turn that mission into action.”

Yaniv Friedman, executive chairman of Ithaca Energy and conference co-chair of OE27 said, “It is more important than ever that we continue to champion the value of homegrown energy and the significant economic, security, and societal benefits that domestic oil and gas production delivers for the UK and Europe. Through the theme of “(Em)Powering Europe: Securing Our Energy Future,” OE27’s 3-day program will challenge and inspire us to explore how our industry can continue to innovate, collaborate, and strengthen its capabilities to meet the UK’s energy needs responsibly, efficiently, and sustainably.”

Edna Michelle Bisso Bi Mba, head of reservoir services at Harbour Energy’s Technology and Service Centre and technical program co-chair of OE27, said, “OE’s technical program is where engineers, geoscientists, and energy professionals come together to share ideas, challenge thinking, and learn from each other’s experience. We want to hear from people doing interesting work across the sector, whether that is improving operational performance and safety, applying new technologies, unlocking value from the subsurface, or supporting the delivery of lower-carbon energy. For the first time, the program will also feature a dedicated stream on Talent Development and Diversity.”

Irene Brekne Hamre, managing director, North Sea Geozone, Baker Hughes and technical program co-chair of OE27 said, “Europe's energy future will be shaped not only by technology, but by the industry's ability to collaborate, share knowledge, and develop solutions at scale. The technical program provides a platform for those conversations, and we encourage submissions that bring fresh perspectives, challenge conventional thinking, and support a secure and competitive energy future for Europe.”
