International HSE Conference Calls for Papers

The 2020 SPE International Conference on Health, Safety, the Environment, and Sustainability, which is set for 17­–19 March in Bogotá, Colombia, is seeking papers. The theme of the conference is “Generating Pride and Enabling Engagement,” and the deadline for submissions is 18 June.

The call for papers has gone out for SPE’s next international health, safety, environmentm and sustainability conference. The deadline for submissions is 18 June.

The 2020 SPE International Conference on Health, Safety, the Environment, and Sustainability will be held along with the SPE Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference 17­–19 March in Bogotá, Colombia. The theme of the HSE conference is “Generating Pride and Enabling Engagement.”

“The 20HSE conference builds on prior international conferences and, as always, looks to raise the bar and be increasingly strategic,” said Johana Dunlop, conference program committee cochairperson and SPE’s technical director for HSE and sustainability.

Chaired by José Cotello, president of Ecopetrol Brazil, the conference gathers professionals from around the industry to share challenges and best practices to minimize risk, add value to operations, and underpin the social license to operate.

Papers are being accepted in more than 100 topics in the following categories:

  • Health in the working environment
  • Industrial hygiene
  • Energy transition and greenhouse-gas management
  • Biodiversity and sensitive areas
  • Transparency through reporting
  • Occupational and process safety
  • Safety management systems
  • Social responsibility
  • Sustainable development
