An engineering, procurement, construction contractor awarded McDermott’s CB&I Storage Solutions a $50–$250-million contract to provide the engineering, procurement, and fabrication for 14 storage tanks as part of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project in Burnaby, British Colombia.
The 14 flat-bottom atmospheric storage tanks, which are various sizes up to 185 ft in diameter, will be constructed by Canadian workers and will increase the nominal crude oil capacity of the Trans Mountain Pipeline System from 300,000 to 890,000 B/D.

The expansion project is the largest in the pipeline’s history, involving the installation of approximately 980 km of new pipeline, new and modified facilities including pump stations and terminals, and a new dock complex at the Westridge Marine terminal in Burnaby.
