The SPE Asset Integrity Technical Section (AITS) aims to provide a global forum for technical collaboration, knowledge sharing, and industry engagement on asset integrity engineering and operational assurance. The section will bring together operators, service providers, technology developers, academia, and regulators to advance best practices, innovation, and technical competency related to the safe, reliable, and sustainable operation of energy assets.
AITS’s main objective is to focus specifically on the engineering and operational aspects of asset integrity, where the community will address technical challenges associated with infrastructure integrity, reliability engineering, inspection and monitoring technologies, life cycle extension, operational risk reduction, and emerging integrity considerations in new energy applications.
As the industry accelerates adoption of digital technologies, predictive analytics, automation, and AI-enabled monitoring systems, there is increasing demand for cross-disciplinary collaboration to improve operational resilience, reduce unplanned failures, and support long-term asset sustainability. At the same time, energy transition developments are introducing new integrity risks related to CO2 service, hydrogen systems, material compatibility, and infrastructure repurposing.
The establishment of AITS will strengthen SPE’s technical ecosystem by creating a globally relevant platform that bridges traditional and emerging energy sectors while supporting operational excellence, safety, innovation, and sustainable infrastructure performance across the full energy life cycle.
