Each year during its Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE), SPE honors members whose outstanding contributions to the Society and the petroleum industry merit special distinction. Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet on 22 October.
After years of market shocks, technological breakthroughs, and rising uncertainty, ATCE 2026 will provide new insights on how industry leaders and technical experts are preparing for the next era of the upstream business.

Donald Russell, 1974 SPE president, died 19 December 2015. He was 84.

Horace Randolph (Randy) Crawford, SPE, died 16 December 2015 at age 87. He was a pioneer in fracture treatment designs and products and was honored as a JPT Legend of Production and Operations in 2009.

Dan K. Adamson, who guided SPE for more than 2 decades as its executive director and helped transform it into a leading international technical-professional association, died 26 December. He was 76.

Ştefan Traian Mocuţa, SPE, died on 28 October 2015 at age 83. An SPE member since 1994, he was awarded the SPE Regional Service Award for South, Central, and East Europe in 2004 for his contributions to the establishment and development of the SPE Romanian Section. Karen Bybee, a former assistant technology editor forJPT, died 21 August 2015 in Richardson, Texas. She was 68.
