In August, SPE’s parent organization, The American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME), will make its yearly changes to its eight-member Board of Trustees.

This year, Shauna Noonan (Oxy fellow and senior director of global SCM initiatives at Occidental and 2020 SPE President) replaces Jennifer Miskimins (department head at Colorado School of Mines and 2026 SPE President) as a trustee.

Also, Executive Director John Ehrig retired and was replaced by Barbara Bartlow.

AIME, the starting place for SPE, is the second-oldest engineering society and supports its four member societies ( SME (the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration), TMS (The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society), SPE, and AIST (the Association for Iron and Steel Society.) through awards, scholarships, and special grants. Every year, AIME and SPE recognize excellence in service and achievement awards through the Rossiter Raymond Award, DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal, the Anthony F. Lucas Medal, and Honorary Member.

AIME awards recognize members of the societies' technical contributions, professional excellence and leadership, extraordinary and dedicated service to colleagues, and public service. AIME facilitates sharing learnings and best practices, access to grant resources, and participating in interdisciplinary collaborative efforts.
