Mathias Carlsen

Mathias Carlsen, SPE, general manager for the Americas at Whitson, is a petroleum engineer and industry leader in the development of petroleum engineering software. He holds an MSc in petroleum engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and was a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University. Carlsen’s expertise in numerical rate transient analysis, multiphase flowing-material has been leveraged by dozens of E&P companies across the world. As an educator, he researches and teaches advanced industry courses, sharing his knowledge in well performance, advanced PVT studies, phase behavior, and gas-based enhanced oil recovery. His contributions include more than 10 papers presented at SPE conferences along with other widely recognized research in unconventional reservoir PVT and production strategies.
