Moones Alamooti, SPE, is a PhD candidate in geophysics and is pursuing her second MSc degree in energy engineering at the University of North Dakota. Her research interests revolve around optimizing the seismic imaging process for locating geothermal resources and designing innovative hybrid systems for enhanced energy efficiency and security. Alamooti has been honored with numerous awards, scholarships, and distinctions for her academic and research achievements. Her skills have been recognized through her participation and success in various competitions. She participates in outreach activities and holds leadership roles in professional organizations. Through her academic achievements, research contributions, and participation in professional organizations, her goal is to make a lasting impact in energy and earth science, striving to advance cleaner and sustainable energy systems for a more environmentally conscious world.

  • Geothermal energy’s advantages make it popular across multiple sectors, from residential to industrial applications. Primary applications, namely electricity, direct use, and ground source heat pumps, offer diverse energy sources. Details of these and some unconventional applications are discussed.
