Joshi Technologies International

S.D. (Sada) Joshi, SPE, was the general chair of the 19th SPE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium and is president of Joshi Technologies International in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He founded JTI in 1988 after a 9-year tenure at Phillips Petroleum Company. JTI is a privately held business consultancy specializing in horizontal well technology and reservoir evaluation, providing engineering consulting and training services and proprietary software in more than 30 countries. JTI division Joshi Oil & Gas is an international operating company with oil and gas production in the US, India, Colombia, and Ecuador. Joshi developed the “Joshi Equation” formula used worldwide for predicting production rates from horizontal wells, as well as methodologies for calculating decline curves and well-testing equations for horizontal wells. He is the author of Horizontal Well Technology and coauthor of Geological Aspects of Horizontal Drilling. He was named an SPE Distinguished Lecturer for 1995–96. Joshi earned BE, master’s, and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from Walchand College of Engineering in Sangli, India, IIT, and Iowa State University, respectively.
