The world's transition to green and clean-tech energy sources is gathering pace, but oil and gas will probably continue to have significant roles in the short- to medium-term future. Our primary challenge is to move as quickly as we can toward renewable energy sources but, in this United Nations keynote address, Robert K. Perrons presents "the other challenge"—specifically, the need to reduce the carbon footprint of the legacy energy assets that will probably be with us for a while longer.
This speech was delivered as part of the United Nations "Resource Management Week" event on 27 April 2021. Perrons, SPE, is a professor at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, and serves as a member of the UN's Expert Group on Resource Management.
