David Reid, SPE, was appointed CTO at NOV. He succeeds Hege Kverneland, SPE, who retired as corporate vice president and CTO. Kverneland joined NOV through the acquisition of Hitec in 1999. Starting in 2001, he was corporate research and development manager and was promoted to CTO in 2009.
Reid is chief marketing officer at NOV. He joined Varco International in 1992 and held several roles in business development, product development, leadership, and management. He serves on the NOV and Schlumberger IntelliServ Joint Venture Board and on the International Association of Drilling Contractors executive board as the vice president for services. He is a founding member of the SPE Drilling Systems Automation Technical Section and serves on the SPE Board as the technical director of drilling.
