Gretchen Gillis

Gretchen Gillis, SPE, was appointed president of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). She is a geologist at Aramco Americas. A member of AAPG since 1990, she has served through many years and chaired several committees, including those responsible for the AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition technical program, publications (serving as the AAPG elected editor), women’s network, and public outreach. Gillis is a trustee associate of the AAPG Foundation and a member of the leadership team that proposed the creation of the International Meeting for Applied Geoscience & Energy with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. She is also a member of the AAPG steering committee exploring the formation of a new organization with SPE. Gillis received the AAPG Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and the AAPG Honorary Member Award in 2018. She holds an MA in geological sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and a BA in geology from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
