Petrofac Scores EPC Contract in Algeria

Groupement Isarene awarded a $1-billion contract to Petrofac for the Ain Tsila Development Project in Algeria. Groupement Isarene is the joint operating group set up by Sonatrach, Petroceltic, and Enel.

Located around 1100 km south-east of Algiers, the Ain Tsila field will produce gas, LPG, and condensate for the local Algerian market and for export. Under the terms of the 42-month contract, the lump-sum engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project scope of work includes commissioning, startup, and performance testing.

The field is estimated to have production capacity of 2.1 Tcf of sales gas, 67 million bbl of condensate, and 108 million bbl of LPG extracted from an annual average wet gas plateau rate of 355 MMscf/D. Production is expected to begin in 2020–2021.

Petrofac's EPC activities in Algeria include Sonatrach's Tinrhert Field Development Project, along with the Alrar and Reggane projects that began production last year.
