SPE has launched a new community on SPE Connect for 2025 SPE President Olivier Houzé, marking the first time an SPE President has a dedicated group on the platform. This community is designed to foster open discussions between Houzé and SPE members.
Recent topics include SPE’s role in the energy transition, SPE’s finances, and SPE’s governance.
In his columns to date since becoming SPE President, Houzé has addressed key issues:
- December: Provides an inside look at SPE’s governance, highlighting the SPE Board of Directors and the selection process for its members. Revisits lessons from the 2022 SPE-AAPG merger discussions and wraps up with actionable ideas to boost transparency and member engagement.
- November: Delves into SPE’s finances including historical context, impact of downturns and COVID-19, recovery efforts, and future plans.
- October: Discusses SPE’s role in the energy transition analyzing past transitions and discussing scenarios from the International Energy Agency to identify likely paths forward. Houzé emphasized addressing energy transition as a technical challenge and proposed a structure for SPE’s involvement.
