SPE Offshore Europe 2027 has unveiled its conference theme, “(Em)Powering Europe: Securing Our Energy Future,” and opened the call for technical paper proposals for the Aberdeen event.
SPE welcomes 261 members into the Legion of Honor recognizing 50 years of consecutive membership in the Society.
Flow measurement touches almost every phase of oil and gas operations. Yet the industry still struggles to distinguish between what is directly measured, what is inferred, and what is estimated through models, correlations, or assumptions. That distinction matters. A measurement does not need to be perfect to be useful, but it must be fit for purpose.

In 2020, several changes were made to increase the usability of the annual SPE Membership Salary Survey. Among the added highlights, the 2020 survey offers new analyses of compensation by engineering title and overall work experience. -

Every year, SPE recognizes members who have made an exceptional effort to ensure the technical excellence of the Society’s peer-reviewed journals. For their contributions, the following individuals are recipients of the 2020 Outstanding Technical Reviewer Award.

John Etherington, a petroleum reserves champion and an SPE Distinguished Member, died 19 September. He was 76.

SPE has made the difficult decision to stop printing and mailing JPT magazine as a cost-savings measure as of the November 2020 issue. For now, this change will be effective only through March 2021 but may extend as we consider future economic conditions and member response.

SPE welcomes 132 members into the Legion of Honor, which observes 50 years of consecutive membership in the Society. Each honoree becomes dues-exempt and receives a commemorative plaque marking the milestone. The honorees are listed below under their respective sections.
