This section lists with regret SPE members who recently passed away.
Each year during its Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE), SPE honors members whose outstanding contributions to the Society and the petroleum industry merit special distinction. Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet on 22 October.
After years of market shocks, technological breakthroughs, and rising uncertainty, ATCE 2026 will provide new insights on how industry leaders and technical experts are preparing for the next era of the upstream business.

The SPE Strategic Plan to be developed needs to take into consideration the hardships and changes that have affected the industry and SPE members. It must provide a solid foundation to best serve our members’ needs into the future using a financially sustainable model. -

Terry Palisch is the nominee for 2024 SPE President. He and five others make up the new slate of nominees recommended for positions open on the SPE International Board of Directors.

Florea Minescu, a longstanding SPE member and senior scientific researcher in the upstream sector, died 8 November 2021. He was 73.
